First demo of a new project I've been wanting to start!
I like to complete things out of order to see completely different results. Sometimes things are better, sometimes they are not.
The plan with this music is to create a story and images to compliment the sounds occurring. I have my own story that I was thinking of as I wrote the music, but the idea is for someone else to come up with their own version of what they believe is happening in the sound.
I initially split it into 4 parts:
0:00 Act 1
11:20 Act 2
14:07 Act 3
16:15 Act 4
I have a few other things planned, and want to make the final piece roughly an hour in length. Should be a fun.

Demos! Old and New
Over the last few years, I've made a few demos for certain radio stations and college. I just finished one up for Air1 / KLOVE and recovered one from a hard drive.
I'll be purchasing new ProTools hardware soon so I can finally scratch this creative itch, but until then, enjoy:

Creatures?
While on a road trip to Arizona, I listened to The Lord of the Rings movie via a DVD player plugged into my car stereo. From only being able to listen to the audio while driving on an endless stretch of road, I automatically began to pick apart the different sounds. By not seeing the creature making the harsh noises, I better deciphered what was used to create their "voices" - The Nazgul for example, are mostly made up of pig squeals.
Here are some of my creatures:
Crank it up! The second sample has much more low end than the first. But, the first does have a cello layered behind it.

Mixed Nuts
So a while back I started working on a bunch of remixes and mash-ups to learn how to use Pro Tools better. A motherboard issue later... I've lost much of that work. So I'm going to make an attempt at recreating what I once had. Heres some stuff I did find today though.

How I Graduated College...
Senior thesis project:
Recorded production dialogue and wrote the soundtrack (half of which didn't make it into the movie.) Thankfully, a few friends of mine from the band OnBeingHuman lent me their song "Things We Learn While We're Away" for the short.
Some might not hear this stuff, but here are some flubs:
There was a bad connection somewhere in the car scene. We rigged lav mics above the actors to capture their lines and ran them through a mixer and into a marantz flash recorder. Good process, did it for the rest of the short too, but there was just a bad cable somewhere in this set up, and I didn't catch. Too much car noise I guess.
Also, the music for the coffee scene was written to speed up, but was cut during editing to play the intro twice. Not sure what we were thinking... there were many all-nighters... and even a basement drum recording session that I ended up scrapping because I changed some of the songs around tempo-wise.
Enjoy. Its a tear-jerker.

LTH
This is another project that got put on hold and then forgotten. I had many short tunes and themes that I wanted to put to images. Mainly of small events in daily lives. So I used "lilliputian" as a labeling scheme. Here is one of the Lilliputian Traveler's Hymns...
Next time... I'll care about the video aspect. As in... not have people look at the camera.

Soon to come:
Sound Design and Music-related works that I have created, sampled, produced, altered, etc....
